COMPETITION CHEER TEAMS

We have Teams for all ages (kindergarten thru college) and all abilities (beginning thru advanced).  In fact, some of our teams don't require past cheer experience.

Unlike our monthly non-competitive skills classes, our competition cheer teams involve a 1-year commitment (May thru April).  Our competition teams train for half the season learning their routine, then compete the other half of the season against teams from all across the country.

A common thing we hear from our current cheerleaders is that their friends are too intimidated to come to CheerForce because they believe they're not good enough to be on a CheerForce team.  NO!!!  Everyone makes a team here at CheerForce. We have teams for all skills levels, not just advanced teams.  If you're interested in joining our 2008-09 competition teams...YOU CAN!!! There's no reason to be intimidated.

At CheerForce, we have many squads that each compete in different divisions, but we really only have "one team". Everyone in the CheerForce family is in the stands when any of our squads are performing.

Teamwork means that we share a common ideal and embrace a common goal. Regardless of our differences, we strive shoulder-to-shoulder, confident in one another's faith, trust and commitment. In the end, teamwork can be summed up in five short words..."we believe in each other.

Our unity is our greatest strength. Divided, we are halfway to defeat. United, halfway to victory.

"Common Questions About CheerForce Teams"

1) What does it cost to be on a CheerForce traveling competition team?

We believe our all-star program provides you the best experience for your money. From our world class facility & coaches, to our choice of competitions, uniforms, and professional choreographers….no other all-star program gives you more “value for your money”! The difference in cost between our program and others is not what you might expect. When you add up all the costs that are charged separately at other gyms, you may actually spend less here at CheerForce. Other gyms may advertise a lower “tuition” rate, but then require additional payments of significant extra amounts throughout the year. Our families enjoy our all-inclusive level-pay & not being “nickled & dimed” all season long.

At CheerForce, we strive to be up-front with our prices. Our tuition is $100/month. The other costs (detailed below) are an additional $150/month. To make it easier for our customers, we combine those two amounts into one “all-inclusive” level payment of $250/month.

This “all-inclusive” level-pay price covers almost all of the expenses athletes normally incur throughout the year. This includes: tuition, practice clothes, shoes, backpack, makeup, camp, competition entry fees, choreography, music, coaches’ travel fees, USASF athlete credentialing, CF “Summer of Fun” events (Dodger Night, Knott’s Berry Farm Day, Beach Party, Disney Day), and numerous other expenses.

2) Are there CheerForce teams with a lower time/financial commitment?

Yes, we have a "Performance Team" named the Jewelz.  You can think of the Jewelz as our "CheerForce-lite" team.   This is a "non-traveling" team that "performs" at local events (ie Simi Valley Days Parade, local Festivals, etc) throughout the season.  They have a less demanding practice schedule, and a much lower cost.  The price is $95/month.  The $95/month is for tuition only and does not include all the items (warm-ups, shoes, uniforms, entry fees, etc) that our competition teams' level-pay system covers.  Performance teams are a good option for those wanting to be a part of CheerForce, but cannot commit to the practice/travel/financial requirements of our traveling competition teams.

3) What if I want to be part of CheerForce, but not on a full Competition Team?

We have many other classes (Tumbling, Flight School, TnT, Jewelz, PopRockz).  Most of these classes are only once/week and range in cost from $45-$95/month.  These classes have no season long commitment.

We also offer Private Lessons for 1-on-1 training with our Coaches.

4) Who owns CheerForce?

CheerForce is owned by Shawn & Becky Herrera, who live here in Simi Valley with their 2 sons (Bryce & Brennen).  Shawn & Becky both graduated from USC with degrees in Business.  Becky was the captain of her high school cheer squad, and while at USC she ran the “danSCers” dance program.  Becky head coaches the younger CheerForce teams and also the Cheer Director overseeing all the coaches and teams at CheerForce.  Shawn handles all the Gym operations (accounting, marketing, competition registrations, uniforms, etc) so our coaches can focus 100% of their efforts on coaching.

5) Who operates CheerForce?

Shawn & Becky Herrera.  We have many talented Coaches at CheerForce, a Booster Club, Team Moms, and many, many dedicated parents.  However, we make it very clear, and everyone at CheerForce knows, that Shawn & Becky make all the final decisions.  They are involved in every aspect of CheerForce’s day-to-day operations.

6) How long has CheerForce been in business & where is CheerForce located?

Back when Coach Becky [Herrera] started CheerForce in 2001 with 2 teams, we practiced out of the Simi Valley Boys & Girls Club.  Now, we have our own 14,000 ft2 CheerForce Gym located in Simi Valley, CA at 4535 Runway Street.

7) Is EVERYONE (even those previously from other Gyms) welcome at CheerForce?

With the few exceptions of those who’ve been asked to leave CheerForce……..YES, everyone is welcome & appreciated.  Whether your child has a double full or can’t (yet) do a cartwheel, they will be treated equally here.  At CheerForce, no one is treated as “a favorite” and no one is treated more/less “special” than anyone else.

The families who’ve joined us from other Gyms have told us they were initially worried they might be treated as “unwelcome outsiders” since they were coming from a “rival Gym”.  However, they were pleasantly surprised how quickly their child was accepted by everyone (Coaches, kids, & parents).  Our kids/parents view new families joining CheerForce as a compliment on our past performance.

We had almost 90 new cheerleaders join our competition teams in 2007-08.  We now have nearly 15% of our competition team members part of our "CF 100 Club"....meaning they drive 100+ miles round-trip to/from practice.  Wow!!!

8) How many CheerForce teams are there?

Currently CheerForce has 9 competition cheer teams.  The youngest team is comprised of 4-8 yr olds, and the oldest team is comprised of 14yr+ olds.  We also have a Parent Team (Tombstonez).  No one should feel "they're not good enough" to be at CheerForce.  There will be a team for everyone.

9) Who are the Coaches and what are their backgrounds?

All of our Head Coaches are cheer professionals with extensive backgrounds in cheerleading.  Most cheered in college, have years of all-star coaching experience, and have been judges for national cheer competitions such as JAMfest, COA, and American Championships.  All of their full bios are available at CheerForce.com.

10) Are there a lot of rules / does EVERYONE follow the same rules at CheerForce?

Yes.  If you were to compare CheerForce to the Parents of one of your child’s friends…….we would be known as the “strict parents”.  Some may not like this discipline, and think we’re too firm uniformly applying the same rules to everyone.  But, in a “team” environment…….having a uniform set of rules that everyone follows, is crucial to success.

At the beginning of each Season, we give everyone a written set of our rules (the “Blue Book”) and require that everyone read through them and return a signed copy.  Most families believe this discipline plays a major role in our success.
